I’ve been obsessing about a cut and a color recently. I would like to testify. I think about hair accoutrements way more than I should and way more than I would truly like to confess. I am guilty. So a few days ago, I woke up and decided that I want shorter hair. I didn’t google the stylist or the salon. I just walked into a spot where there was parking (NYC woes) and asked for a short layered cut. I did ask the stylist if she does cuts. I’m spur of the moment but I am not crazy. She assured me that she is versed in doing layered cuts and I submitted to the chair and the scissor. The results? I love it! She could have gone a bit shorter and my hair could have been better layered but all together, I am pleased. I would like to add that I am not overly picky or hard to please though.
Today, I picked up my daughter from school and was so happy that it wasn’t raining or freezing cold. She told me her good news. She got a solo in her school’s music performance! (Happy Fingers). I asked her to shoot a few photos for me because the sun made me happy. She acquiesced and I happily posed for her.

I’ve been friends with or following Jhaszmyn on Instagram for some time now. She is a creative and it was a great thing when I saw that she was doing henna tattoos ad not just doing the tats but also making house calls. It was too good to be true. I’ve been wanting to get henna-ed for some time now and I’m not sure why it took me this long. I suppose the time was never right and the right situation never happened till now. Jhaszmyn arrived at our noon appointment time and she was ready to get right to making art. She is super sweet and very creative. She was more than happy to give me the design on my choice and made sure I was happy with my choices.
After getting the henna, I now needed my photog extraordinaire hubby, John, to hook me up with some awesome photos. We worked together and got some awesome shots. He was kind enough to capture some beautiful images for me. It only took him a short period of time to do it but he created some stunners here.
What a great way to spend a Saturday!
Jhaszmyn, the henna artist, hard at work.
No real meaning or occasion for the henna. Just an outlet for some creativity that I was feeling.
Love the way these rosebushes matched the feel of the henna and the deep wine color of the nails is perfect in the midst of it all.
Feeling a little like bad Gal Rih Rih with these digits tatted.
The curls aren’t fully dried but I used “Creme of Nature’s” Butterliciuous Curl Cream on the curls today.

What have I been up to? Pinotage, French things and such. It’s been a busy couple of weeks. I am winding down to Summer and looking forward to it more than anything. Originally, I wanted to take a quick trip to Europe (Paris and London maybe). The Euro is more equal to the dollar right now so now is a perfect time to visit but the way my dollars are set up, we may have to visit in a year or so. I am not a fan of spending what I don’t have. Well, in truth I have it (think in terms of financial abundance) but not money slated for a trip. Someone even mentioned that I put the trip on a credit card and pay for it over the next year. Yeah, thats not gonna work for me. I am not a believer in putting a purchase like a trip on a credit card. i may be wrong though. What do you think Suze Orman would say? while I’m here in my hometown, I enjoy the things that are around me. Europe can wait.
My hood. I love that the houses are different on each block.
I don’t have France but I do have a Frenchman who opened a cute crepe shop very close to home. There he is making my crepes.
Thats a nook where I can spend hours drinking red wine and eating crepes.
I’ve been drinking.. well not that much. Just my usual, red wine. I stumbled on this pinotage from a South African wine company called, ‘Bob’s”. They donate a portion of their proceeds to needy communities in South Africa.
The flower petals have been falling off of the trees and making the best cushion against the hard concrete.
Perfect time of the year for fresh fruits. Bushels on bushels.
Speaking of fresh fruits and vegs. I made this great, fresh, corn salsa (corn, cherry tomatoes and cilantro) paired with oven baked tostones. Super good for you.
Perfect weather for carefree hair. Twists!
What have you been up to? Share.
It seems rather obnoxious to post several pictures of my face and think that others should be interested. I know, there is nothing groundbreaking here. There is no overarching social commentary. There is no extraordinary capture of textures or colors in the photos they still, I post. Maybe it is because it is all that I’ve created in the past day or so; therefore I found it appropriate to share. This is just the life and times of these selfies. Plus, I was having a good curl day.
