Haiti is on the island of Hipaniola in the Caribbean sea. It shares the same piece of land as the Dominican Republic. We see travel specials to what is affectionately termed as, DR (Dominican Republic), all the time. It is a rarity that we see ads or travel specials telling us to come and lounge on white sand beaches in Haiti. We hear of poverty, political unrest and a recent tragic earthquake that took the lives of thousands of people. I recently discovered an IG page for one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen called Hotel Forita on Instagram and now have the greatest urge to visit Jacmel, Haiti. The old world charm of the hotel’s architecture and the smile of the people of that small town in Haiti captivates me. Jamel is the town where Haitian Carnival/Kanaval is held in February and I’m always in the mood for a little “zouk” and some “jump an wave”. The beaches are serene and beautiful. There is a blue lagoon called “Bassin Bleu” that looks like it came straight from a travel magazine. The unspoiled beauty of this town makes it a must see for me.
Is this not one of the most romantic places you’ve ever seen? I can picture myself floating around the town and this beautiful hotel wearing the most comfortably gorgeous Summer dresses (because they are pretty) and soaking in the art, beach and the beautiful culture of Haiti. Perfect for an escape from the frigid NorthEast temperatures. Can you picture yourself here?
